Need help building own web site?

Q) i do not have much knowleged or understanding of my computer, but would like to build own web site (again i know nothing). I am a small business working from home and would like to up the proffession look of by business by having a web site. Any suggestions?. (have very small income and can not justify spending loads on a site), (just had glass of wine, sorry if this does not make sence!?!)

A) Download NVU, it's easy to use and you can create you're own site yourself for free. I did my own and Namesco provide my web space and it costs £4.00 per month. You could also try BlueVoda (American) this has video tuturials to help you.

What is the best source for a small business owner with moderate web experience to build their own website?

Q) I am not a beginner, but not an advanced coder either. I started with godaddy for name and hosting, but their Websitetonight product does not give me the polished look I want. I don't think I need something like Dreamweaver because I don't plan on building again after this. I cannot find a web-based option that has lots of great-looking prebuilt pages - this would be ideal. I don't really have the budget to hire a pro. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Building own Web Server?

Q) How can build my own web server and can start hosting business online? I m NEW in this field, although i m quick learner. So can you please guide me step-by-step? or refer a free tutorial to learn about this? Please help. More details?

A) I have two server I serve from a cable modem, and I just switched one of my accounts to the Yahoo! Buniess web server. Free domain, and a lot more for $11.95\mo.

web hosting/e-commerce?

Q) Even an old man like Myself can see that e-commercce is the future, and while I consider My self to be fairly comfortable with using th einternet and computers, I am a long way from being an expert on building web sites, and setting up e-commerce accounts. So I have some questions I would like to understand better before I proceed with establsihing My own web business... I am going to have to start with some kind of a “welcome page” which I am pretty sure I can handle. But from there I want to split between a “free tour” and a “members login”page. The free tour is probably nothing more than linking other web pages which are no more complicated than the welcome page??? But the members sign in page, how would I go about setting that up??? I am also going to what some way of billing My customers for their montlhy memberships and for on line purchases, which I am guessing would invovle something like pay pals and a link to an e-commerce capable bank account which I think I have with washington mutual. I want the ability to up load videos and music for viewing and sale. And I am going to want an on line catolog of merchandise related to My business. I am also going to want some kind of members only chat room. And I want to have some kind of live auction capability. I am going to bet that there are other things I am going to need to know that I amnot even aware of yet, and I am hoping that with this e-mail I can get started and then as I have other questions and problems I will be able to seek guidence and advice from ???? A) You have a tall order to fill, my friend. So slow down! This kind of business takes an expert in not only web design, but in PHP, MySQL, and CSS. And that is just to start. You dont want to be making every page by hand. By using these, you will be able to make the site interactive and dynamic. If you cant do this or dont know what Im talking about, you need to consult an expert to either teach you or do it for you. I dont know how to do a chat room...but you will need a good databaser to have any sort of login page, a place to store all those customer's information, a way to charge them monthly automatically, unless they pay per product they view... You will need to get a merchant account, usually through your bank, and set up a shopping cart on your site, after people login, to put their credit card info in. you need to capture that info (Databasing again) to incur recurring monthly charges. It is a lot of info, but really, it isnt THAT hard if you already have the products you want to sell. You just need a good databaser/programmer.
